The Lord began to stir Pastor Dave O'Donnell as early as 1984 while attending Baptist Bible College East in Hyde Park Ma. with a vision of pioneering a Church Plant in Maine. While in Bible College he met the love of his life Julie Greenlaw and on Sept 19, 1987 they were married.
Over the next years while finishing Bible College and working as Assoc. Pastor of South Middlesex Baptist Church in Framingham Ma. Pastor Dave took many trips into Maine researching areas and praying for God's leading. The search led him from Wells to Fort Kent with each trip he would seek out and area Pastors to ask their opinion of the needs of the area and the location he was researching. Early in 1990 the Lord began to narrow his search to the Mid Coast Area beginning with the Rockland area as he spoke to Pastors many began to point towards Damariscotta-Newcastle as an area of interest. Damariscotta-Newcastle had been the very first area mentioned to him when he had begun his search, an area he had avoided due to a speech impediment. Pastor Dave stutters. January 17,1991 as Pastor Dave and Julie pulled into town with their young son, they knew they were home. They immediately began preparations to move to the area. March 15, 1991 the family moved to the area they have called home ever since.
Faith Baptist Church was established on April 21, 1991 with the intent of being a vital part of the Damariscotta-Newcastle Region. The Church started in the lower level of the Barter Real Estate Building directly across from Dunkin' Donuts on Main Street. A short time later moved to Elm Street where they met to worship for the next 4 years. Feb. 1996 to opportunity presented itself to purchase their current location on the Mills Rd. Newcastle from Miles Memorial Hospital after much prayer and gifts from Churches from 21 different states and Missionaries from 3 foreign fields as far away as Pakistan. They were able to purchase the property where FBC now calls home.
